Plan B magazine album advert

This is Plan B's magazine album advert to promote his album 'the defamation of Strickland Banks'. As you can see this advert follows the typical conventions a magazine advert, The first thing you notice on the advert is the big, bold, red title which is 'PLAN B' - this is the name of the artist/group; the second thing I notice is the title of the album which is 'The defamation of Strickland Banks' -  this title is printed in the same font but in white. The red and white font works well against the black background because they stand out and will catch the audiences attention. The rest of the font is also either red or white. Continuing the theme of black and white and red is important because this theme is also continued on the album.

A marketing technique is then used to make the album sound more appealing and like the audience need to buy it. 'The multi-platinum album of the year' - They are using the fact that it is a multi platinum album to promote it.

In a smaller print, you can see that they have listed all the publications that have rated the album four stars out of five. This is again a technique to show the audience that it has been rated highly and that they should buy it.

In the bottom left corner is a preview of the Digipak. As you can see the Digipak shares the same color scheme as the poster, making these two items links and associated with each other - making sure the two products are linked together is important because the audience can recognize the album or advert when they see it.

The main image for the advert is a picture of the lead singer known as Plan B. Plan B is the main image because he is the lead singer and he is trying to sell his style, his image, his voice and so on. Also he is on the front cover of his album so it would make sense to have him on the advert. As he is the lead singer and the audience would automatically recognize him.
